Origin
The land of Scotland, peat-rich and famous with beauty of the landscapes and blooming heather, reveals all its monumentality in every sip of Glen Clan whisky
This whisky from the Highlands of Scotland continues the long- standing traditions deeply rooted in the past connected with the Gaels who inhabited these places in the ancient times.

To live in the Highlands of Scotland someone should have not only a strong spirit, but also a courage and a cool temper. The Gaels knew very well both how to fight and to celebrate their victories.

Gael clans traditionally settled separately from each other, choosing a suitable «Glen» - a place in a mountain valley. They have been successfully engaged in agriculture and the cultivation of rye and barley for ages. And when the monks taught them the way of whiskey production, the Gaels became successful also in distilling.

Each clan had its own unique recipe for the perfect blend of whisky from carefully selected barley. The details of production have been kept by the dedicated clan members as a big secret.

Cereals grown with the free winds in the valleys of the mountains, the hands of masters of blending and the purest water from mountain springs are the ground of the soft peat taste of Glen Clan whisky. Following the covenant of ancestors is the main secret: to keep every sip of whisky perfect the people of the highlands invested in its creation the transferred experience and reinforced it with the work, heart and soul.
Glen Clan History
Scotland as a cradle of whisky production
A beverage with a character which absorbed all the salt of its native land
During at least five centuries Scotland has been unbreakably bonded with the whisky production of the highest quality. The first mention of the beverage later known as Scotch whisky dated by the year 1494. At that time, it had the proud name Aqua Vitae (water of life).

Over the years the masters of whisky noticed a close connection between the soil of Scotland and whisky.

Heavy rains pouring into the ground feed the sources of the purest water which is essential for whisky production. Year by year rich soils give a high yield of barley which goes than to local distilleries. The mild climate with moderate winters and warm summers allows the whisky to maturate without extra fluctuations.

There are five regions of whisky production in Scotland, each one imposes its own character on the final product: Highland, Campbeltown, Islay, Lowland and Speyside. The homeland of Glen Clan whisky - the Scottish Highlands. Back in the XVII century first taxes on distilling whisky made Masters of whisky moved deep into the mountains to hide their distilleries from tax collectors. The cold of the mountains, high humidity and the purest water saturated with minerals influenced the taste of whisky from Highland.

The hallmark of whisky from Highland and our Glen Clan whisky - a rich, complex, but at the same time subtle aroma with honey and dried fruits notes and nuances of smoke and peat.
Production process
Scotch whisky is born over time
To drink real Glen Clan Scotch whisky lovers of this beverage, must wait for a few years
The production of Glen Clan whisky can be considered as a hard work. However, to make a real Scotch whisky someone needs not more than three ingredients: grain, yeast, and water.

There are 100% malt whisky and malt-grain (blended) one in the Glen Clan range. We use malt barley exclusively as the basis of malt whisky, and we add the other cereals to the barley to get the blended whisky.

At the first step of the production of classic Scotch whisky our masters carry out grain malting – the process of soaking them in clean water so that they germinate. Then the grain is slowly dried using peat smoke. The dried grains are crushed to remove the pellicle and malt flour is obtained.

We brew this coarse flour with hot water and mash it. The wort together with the yeast go to the fermentation vat and fermentation process starts. Two days later the fermented must looking as a strong ale goes for a distillation.

During the process of double distillation, the future Glen Clan whisky acquires a fortress and a unique character. During the second distillation our masters cut off the «head» and «tail», leaving only the middle fraction to get high-quality whisky.

The liquid obtained is a transparent spirit with specific aromas. It is ready for slow aging in barrels to become an elegant and complex Glen Clan whisky that we know and love.
